Students transitioning to grades 6-12: School counselors can recommend additional school options, all of which are designed with supports in place to make sure that all students graduate well prepared for success in college and career.

Start with the schools right in your neighborhood. Neighborhood schools give students the traditional K-12 experience with well-rounded academic offerings, fine arts and athletic programs. Find the schools that service your home address by using the School Locator tool.

SAISD also offers a number of specialized schools and programs that are open to students across Bexar County, with first priority given to students within the District. Those schools are identified as Choice Schools or Programs and require an application to enroll.

Many schools have question and answer sessions planned throughout the school year for new students. Additionally, SAISD updates an annual Enrollment Guide. This Enrollment Guide provides a comprehensive overview of all our campuses, including academic and extracurricular program offerings, location, contact information and enrollment criteria.

To enroll in a Neighborhood school

  1. Use our Address Lookup Tool or contact the Enrollment Office at (210) 554-2660 to find your child’s zoned school.
  2. Begin your registration online through SchoolMint or by contacting the Enrollment Office at (210) 554-2660.
  3. Find your child’s name and school in the Student Dashboard section. Click “Register” or “Continue” to complete your registration forms.
  4. Upload all required documents. Documents may be uploaded directly into SchoolMint, texted to (210) 309-3259, or brought to your child’s school.

To apply to a Choice School or Magnet Program

  1. Visit the SAISD Choice Schools & Magnet Programs website to see all your academic options.
  2. Click the yellow APPLY button in the top right corner
  3. Choose Online with SchoolMint to submit an online application, or Choose Download paper application to print, complete, and submit a hard copy.

Generally, lotteries are hosted for entry grades at Choice Schools and Programs. Typically, for elementary schools, entry grades are PK and kindergarten; middle school entry grade is 6th grade; high school entry grade is 9th grade. Lotteries are blind, randomized and conducted at the District level. Applications for non-lottery grades will be placed on a waitlist, and applicants will be accepted based on seat availability for that grade.

Through a combination of remote and in-person learning strategies, San Antonio ISD is using 1:1 technology and the strength of our community to make sure all students are connected to their school on a daily basis. SAISD’s safety measures and instructional continuity plan can be found on the District’s Safe School Start page.

SAISD COVID-19 Precautions

Through a combination of remote and in-person learning strategies, San Antonio ISD is using 1:1 technology and the strength of our community to make sure all students are connected to their school on a daily basis.

“To say that educating students during COVID-19 is challenging is an understatement. However, the SAISD community has always prided itself on our ability to bounce back and thrive during even the most challenging of times.”

-Superintendent Pedro Martinez
